J&K Chief Electoral Officer, Shailendra Kumar on Block Development Council (BDC) election: The party wise position looks like this - BJP 81, Indian National Congress 1, Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party 8, BSP 0, Independent 217 - total comes to 307.
J&K Chief Electoral Officer on being asked 'Is there anyone on record from National Conference or PDP who said that they're boycotting polls?": They had not sent me anything in writing whether they are contesting or boycotting or supporting, I can't answer on their behalf. He said that Whatever security deployment was done during Lok Sabha elections, we repeated the same for Block Development Council elections.
The CEO added that As per the report we received till 1 pm, total voting percentage was 98.3%. Highest voting was done in Srinagar dist - 100%, the lowest was in Pulwama & Shopian - 86% and 85% respectively.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) won eight of the 17 blocks in Udhampur district while the BJP managed to win just four blocks. The Bhim Singh-led JKNPP won Janganoo, Khoon, Kulwanta, Latti Marothi, Majalta, Parli Dhar, Ramnagar, and Chanunta blocks in the district. The BJP, on the other hand, won in four blocks namely Dudu Basantgarh, Ghordi, Panchari and Udhampur.
In Jammu district, BJP won 9 out of 20 BDC seats while in Rajouri BJP won 8 out of 17 seats, however BJP failed to open its account in Poonch district of Jammu province.
